New Feedback Added - We'd Love to Hear from You Too!
My very deepest thank you to everyone for your wonderful work. I was absolutely overjoyed when my Chemotherapy nurse offered me one of your wonderfully knitted hats. What a joy it will be to show it off this
fall/winter.
You are among God's chosen. Keep up the wonderful work and rest
assured that your work and time and effort are all very much appreciated.
Love In Christ,
Stephen Cox

A big thank you to all who are a part of Stitches of Hope. As a cancer survivor, I know the importance of feeling that others care. Stitches of Hope truly brings hope and smiles to the faces of our clients of Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.

I received the Stitches of Hope caps and they’re beautiful. We always have a need for this type of donation as we have an Oncology department at the Fort Wayne Veterans Administration. We will accept these caps anytime your organization would like to donate them. Thank you!

We appreciate the kindness of everyone who makes or donates caps or scarves to our facility. Sometimes this just puts a bright spot in someone’s life.

We received a gift bag with about twenty caps(very appreciated by us and our patients). I had the wife of a patient even offer to make us a cap holder(tree) to display them. The caps we received made our patients feel special and they commented on being cold without some kind of cap on. Some couldn’t get over the fact that they were a gift from Stitches of Hope and they had to pay nothing. Caps are just great With the number of chemo patients we have, we have pretty good demand. Most just take one and are so grateful just at the thought put into the gesture. I had one patient and he told me that his niece had just been diagnosed with breast cancer and would be coming to us the next week for her first chemo treatment. I told him (and his wife) they were welcome to pick out a cap that Stitches of Hope had given us. They chose one for her and gave me a ten dollar donation to Stitches of Hope. I took her name down so I would be able to meet her and she loved the cap….her first one! Though she wasn’t at the point of hair loss yet she really appreciated the cap.

I am the Outpatient Clinical Coordinator for St. Joseph's Outpt. Burnand Wound Clinic. I just received 18 beautiful hats from Marissa Whitesell.
I just received the shipment yesterday so we have not given out anycaps as of yet. Right now I can think of a mother and two young daughters that will receive the caps. They were involved in a house explosion this year. They each experienced extensive burn injuries and each have permanent hair loss. With a burn injury, often the temperature regulation system is affected. So, the patient is more sensitive to extreme temperatures. Sometimes this can be a permanent event. The caps will not only boost their confidence as they re-enter the community but will also protect them from the cold. We also have patients that go through a scalp tissue expansion program for weeks in preparation for reconstructive surgery to excise and close the area of scalp scarring. These patients would definitely benefit from the caps since their scalp becomes quite deformed as the tissue is expanded.
Stitches of Home is an awesome program and resource for us as a Regional Burn Center. The caps will certainly be distributed, not only to the patients discharged from the Burn Center and returning as Outpts., but they will also be used during the Inpt. stay. Please feel free to contact me for any future needs.Pat Skilbred RN BSN Clinical Coordinator St. Joseph Regional Burn Center

My hats were great! I love then and they will get plenty of use from me! I can't thank you enough for them. The hats at oncology went quickly. One lady came in with lung cancer and she just started having chemo 3 times a week and her hair was so stringy and almost gone, she took a hat and you should have seen the smile on her face...priceless. Another lady was wearing a scarf and took it off to put on the real fuzzy cap, she loved it. I didn't get to see who got the other ones but they were gone by 5 p.m. when I left.I also saw some key chains and buttons on some people, so there is a huge interest.
Anytime you get some stocked up just drop them off and I will take then up there. I go every Thursday so it's not a problem. Again, Thanks so much and Thank the other Wonderful Ladies who donate their time and ministry to make this work.
Thanks, Wilma
